RENEWING YOURSELF AS EAGLE

Scripture Reading: Acts 3: 11-26

Texts: Psalm 103: 5; Acts 3: 19

Today’s topic is on self-renewal. Self-renewal should be a constant practice among all believers. It is like looking at ourselves in the mirror to see how fitted we are, and examining ourselves to ascertain how strong we are in the Christians’ raise to perfection. God has provided us with all good things (divine health, favor, prosperity, success, victory, etc) to enable us run the raise, and he is also will to strengthen us, when we are weary; only if we can recognize our weakness and go back to him for renewal and refreshing, (Psalms 103:5; Act 3: 19). But like an Eagle, we must recognize when we need to retreat back to God for the renewal process.

An Eagle is one of the biggest birds on Earth, and has the capacity to live an average life-span of 30 years, but some can live up to 70 years. However, when it gets to 40 years old, the beak and the talon are no longer able to catch prey because they are now bent; and even the wings collapsed on its body. The Eagle will choose to die or go through a pain renewal process that last for about 150 days on a secluded mountain. This animal will then force its curved beak to be removed in a hole on the mountain, and within 100 days a new beak is grown and ready for use. The Eagle then use the new beak to pluck off its old feathers and in the next 50 remaining days, new feathers are fully grown and the Eagle is ready and capable of flying back as strong and renewed as a young Eagle, able to do what it could no longer do at 40. This “new” Eagle can thence live for another 30years.

The Bible talks about renewing our youth as the eagle’s (Psalm 103: 5). God who created us knows our frame, and he is always mindful of our weakness (Psalm 103: 10, 14). Hence in Isaiah 40:28-31, it is stated that all other creatures may be weary and faint, but they that wait up on God shall renew their strength. All believers need renewing strength to function.

If you want to be renewed, you must accept that you are weak and the Lord will renew you like the Eagle. The process of self-renewal may be painful. However, self-determination will make it very simple. You must recognize that you are weak and no longer able to function effectively in the Christians’ raise. This is the time to retreat like the Eagle for renewal. Sins weaken every Christian. The first step is to repent of your sins. Ask God for forgiveness and request him to renew you. Second, go back to the Bible for refilling. Study the word of God as you never did before. Last, renew your relationship with your fellow man to fulfill all the Law – (Matthew 22: 37-42).

The strength you need to fly like Eagle is from God. Remember that in Job 39: 26- 30, He gave the ability to all creatures to function to their ultimate potential. Then, why not you? Do not succumb to or be comfortable with your current form. You can fly higher. All you need is to turn back to God for spiritual renewal and refreshing. That time of refreshing is now (Acts 3: 19). You cannot wait further. God knows who you are; hence you cannot hide from him. There is no need to pretend that you are strong when indeed, you are very weak. Turn now to God for renewal, and refreshing and he will not turn you back.

Prayer: Dear LORD, I recognize that I am weak, hence cannot maintain my path on the track, and the required stamina in the Christian raise. I come to you sincerely for renewal and refreshing power to enable me function as I ought to be, in Jesus name – Amen.
